Paul “Phil” Montgomery, 82, formerly of State Center

Paul “Phil” Montgomery, 82, of St. Louis, Missouri, formerly of State Center, Iowa, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the funeral home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Paul Phillip Montgomery was born on July 11, 1934, in Guthrie Center, Iowa; he was the son of Clifton David “Jack” Montgomery and Dorothy Pearl (Simmons) Montgomery. Phil attended school in the West Marshall Community School District and graduated with the class of 1952. He then went to Marshalltown Junior College and received his certificate as a Tool and Die Machinist. Phil honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1957 until 1959 with the 520th Engineering Company as an engineer equipment repairman. On April 13, 1961, Paul was united in marriage to Linda Lou Harrendorf in Council Bluffs, Iowa and had resided in State Center, Iowa until 2012.

Paul worked at Lennox Industries, as a Tool and Die Maker and retired after 44 ¼ years of faithful service. He had been a member of UAW 893 and the Odd Fellows. Phil enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, canoeing, bowling league and was a Boy Scout leader in State Center.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years, Linda; his children: Nita Fox-Keene of Rogers, Arkansas; Teri (Wes) Boyd of St. Louis, Missouri; Brenda (Roger) Grady of Colcord, Oklahoma; Mike (Danice) Montgomery of Osceola, Iowa; Todd Montgomery and Brian (Amanda) Montgomery of Ankeny, Iowa; grandchildren, Stacey (Brian) Johnson, Jason (Misty) Fox, Raquel (Kevin) O’Brien, Cory (Patty) Vaske, Shelbi Fox, Wyatt, Tyler, Ryan, Destiny and Faith Montgomery, Carver and Keegan Montgomery; great-grandchildren, Jake Jackson, Kirby Fox and Brady O’Brien; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins and many grand fur babies.

In death Paul rejoins he parents, Jack and Dorothy Montgomery; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Lorraine Montgomery; sister, Mary Lou Montgomery; in-laws, Clifton and Myrtle Harrendorf, and brother-in-law, Larry Harrendorf.
