Steven Earl Heller, 79, Winfield, KS
Steven Earl Heller was born October 4th, 1946 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Earl and Sylvia Teig Heller. Steve grew up helping his parents at their restaurant. He was a graduate of West Marshall High School class of 1965. Steve started his career as a butcher in State Center and throughout his lifetime continued this profession in Newton Iowa, Nauvoo, Illinois and Marion, Ia., before retiring. His greatest joy were his years working for Dwayne and Janet Pundt at D & J’s Jack and Jill, is State Center where he honed his meat-cutting jokes with all his loyal customers.
Steve married Janet Stoner and later divorced. He then married Janet Anderson. Steve passed away on April 16, 2026, in Winfield, Kansas.
Steve is survived by his wife Janet. Brothers Dennis (Peggy) and Gary (Teresa). Sisters, Diane (Claire) Olson and Marcia (Ben) Purington. Also surviving are his daughters, Candace (Gary) Wunderlich and Lindsay Heller. Eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Steve, will be held at the Road Hog in State Center on Saturday July 18th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.. Please come and share stories about Steve with some of his family members
