Shirley Wignall, 79, Rhodes
Shirley Wignall, 79, of Rhodes, Iowa passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving and caring family and under the care of Iowa River Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Eden Cemetery in Rhodes, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at later date in a tribute fitting for Shirley. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Shirley and her family. Phone 641-844-1234.
Shirley Jean Kiser was born on May 18, 1937, in Ronan, Montana; she was the daughter of Ray and Dorothy (Gearhardt) Kiser. She attended school in the Baxter Community School District. On December 31, 1955, Shirley was united in marriage to Robert Wignall in Rhodes, Iowa and they were blessed with four wonderful children, Vicki, Randy, Robby and Shelli; they later divorced. Shirley never married again but had a longtime companion Jerry “Monk” Dannon. Shirley retired in 2005. She loved her yard and it always was immaculate, and enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and also enjoyed fishing. Shirley’s life revolved around her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always loved attending any event they might be involved in.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Vicki Wignall of Rhodes, Iowa, Randy Wignall of Rhodes, Iowa, Robby (Cindy) Wignall of Rhodes and Shelli Sosa of State Center, Iowa, grandchildren, Gary Pencook, Tyler Sosa, Cori Esquivel, Kelsey Esquivel, Alexandria Gomez, Eric Gomez, Jake Wignall, Jesse Wignall, Trevor Wignall, Riley Wignall, Levi Cowan, and Trevor Cowan, great-grandchildren, Seth Pencook, Devon Wilson, Zach Wilson, Isabella Sosa, Bentley Sosa, Jasmine Gruerrero, Kenzie Wignall, Kylah Wignall, Jesse Wignall Jr., and Sadie Wignall, siblings, Sharon Adkins, and Larry (Norma) Kiser all of Baxter, Iowa, and her dog Rowdy.
In death Shirley rejoins her parents, Ray and Dorothy Kiser, grandparents, Loren and Flossie Gearhardt, Roy and Ethel Kiser and longtime companion Jerry Dannen and her four legged friend, dog Toby
