Gary Underwood, 58, of Haverhill, Iowa, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2017 at his home.

Funeral services for Gary will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church with Father Don Czapla officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service.  Following services, Gary will be laid to rest at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Haverhill. Gary Underwood was born on August 11, 1958 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Donald and Marie (Freese) Underwood. He was raised in Haverhill and graduated from Marshalltown High School with the class of 1976. Following high school, Gary went on to obtain his Bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Northern Iowa and graduated in 1982.

On September 19, 1987, Gary was united in marriage to Suzanne Goodman in Haverhill, IA. They were married for 23 years and had three beautiful daughters. Gary was a hardworking man dedicating 25 years in sales. He also owned and operated a restaurant in State Center for a couple years.

Gary had a passion for golfing, western movies, playing softball, the Denver Broncos and was a John Wayne and Willie Nelson enthusiast. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Left to cherish Gary’s memory are his three daughters, Serena, Molly and Claire; grandson, Laken; parents, Donald and Marie Underwood; siblings: Dianne (Jack) Whitmore, Denise (Kevin) Holubar and Brian (Jacki) Underwood; as well as several nieces and one nephew, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by both sets of his grandparents and cousins, Ron Oetker and Danny Oetker.
