Muench, Verle Eugene 83

Verle Eugene Muench, 83, of State Center passed away on November 16, 2015 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

 

Funeral services for Verle will be held on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St Joseph Catholic Church in State Center. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at St Joseph Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to the family for designation at a later date. Verle Muench was born on November 29, 1931 in Ogden to Cleo and Mable Hanson Muench. Verle received his education in the St Anthony school district. Verle served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1955. On March 5, 1971, Verle was united in marriage to Myrna Zmolek in Clarion. Verle retired from Fisher Control in 1992. He also owned Muench Stump Cutting for 40 years and actively worked until he was 80.Verle was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #122 in State Center. In his younger years, Verle enjoyed golfing with his Fisher co-workers while his son Craig caddied.  He also enjoyed traveling. Verle and Myrna visited all lower 48 states and Canada on their motorcycle. They also spent time in Florida together and recently made trips to Kentucky to see family. Most importantly, Verle cherished the time he got to spend with his family.

 

Verle is survived by his spouse of 44 years, Myrna. Children: Craig (Pam) Muench of State Center, Richard (Trish) Taft of State Center and Steven (Kim) Taft of Eubank, Kentucky. Granchildren: Brock Muench, Juree Muench, Maggie Taft, Jackie Taft, Courtney (Cody) Taft-Somers and Deric Taft. He is also survived by his sister Gloria (Robert) Pfantz of State Center.

 

Verle is preceded in death by his parents Cleo and Mable, his late wife Dorothy (Huff) Muench, sister Delores Freund and twin siblings LaVon Phelps and Larry Muench.
