Judith “Judy” Walkup

Judith “Judy” Ann Walkup, 73, of State Center passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, Iowa, surrounded by her loving family.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2015, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in State Center, Iowa with Rev. Joan Swander officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2015, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in State Center, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family. Judith Ann Meier was born on October 1, 1941 in State Center, Iowa to Roy and Lillith (Brown) Meier, she attended State Center High School. Judith was united in holy matrimony to Ervin Walkup on October 2, 1960 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in State Center, Iowa where they made their home. To this union, four children were born: Robin, Jody, Michael and Greg.

 She enjoyed shopping, attending the grandkids’ sporting events, visiting the kids when they went camping and never missed the annual Firefighter Convention. She was an active member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, St. Paul WELCA, State Center Historical Society, and Thursday coffee club. Judith volunteered at the MMSC Auxiliary and at the West Marshall Schools.

Left to cherish Judy’s memory are her Children: Robin (Doug) Hobbs and Michael Walkup of State Center, Jody (Brian) Kunkel of Marshalltown and Greg (Christi) Walkup of New Sharon, Iowa. Her Grandchildren: Lindsay Duncan, Logan and Latham Hobbs, Brandon and Ashley Kunkel, Tiffany Scheid, April Kunkel, Amanda Bennett, Katelyn and Jonathan Kunkel, and Brett, Stephen, Kelsey and Brock Walkup. Her Great-Grandchildren: Jordan, Pepper, Alexander, Summer, Talon, Jocelyn, Kadence and Tucker, several nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.

 

 Judy will rejoin her parents, Roy and Lillith and husband Ervin (Ab) Walkup in perfect peace.
