Wayne Carroll Dudley, 93, Parkersburg

Wayne Carroll Dudley, age 93, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Barrett “Jack” Overman and Florine Ada (Chance) Dudley on August 23, 1930, in McCallsburg, Iowa. Wayne attended country school and graduated from Zearing High School in Zearing, Iowa, in 1949. On October 2, 1950, Wayne entered the United States Navy and served until he was honorable discharged on October 27, 1950, due to an injury. On November 10, 1950, Wayne was united in marriage with Norma Jean Johnson at Zearing Christian Church, in Zearing. After their marriage, the couple lived in Zearing and Wayne was manager at the local lumber yard. They later moved to St. Anthony where he farmed with his father. In 1969, Wayne and Norma Jean moved to Parkersburg and Wayne worked at O’s Gold in sales and he worked and his way up to President of the company. In 1978, Wayne purchased Farmech and owned it until 1981. Wayne started Top Air Manufacturing, where he worked until his retirement in 1992. Wayne was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, and he served as a council president. He was also a member of Lion’s Club, American Legion, Elk’s Club, Mason’s and the American Quarter Horse Association. Wayne enjoyed fishing, riding horses, flying his airplane, and taking motorcycle trips. On Thursday, June 13, 2024, Wayne died at Parker Place in Parkersburg, of natural causes. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents. Wayne is survived by his wife of 73 years, Norma Jean; three children Dennis (Julie) Dudley of Parkersburg, Vicki Harken of Waterloo. Iowa, and Jackie (Scott) Wildeboer of Parkersburg; eight grandchildren, Nicole (Jody) Gosch, Ryan (Lori Honermann) Dudley, Kristin Grandon, Abby (Danny) Harken, Alex (fiancée, Alisha Schares) Harken, Tyler (Nicole) Wildeboer, Chance (Alex) Wildeboer and Tessa (Mike) Allison; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Audrey Handeland of Ames. Memorial Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the Bethel Lutheran Church, with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery, both in Parkersburg.
