Marjorie Maxine Darrow, 96, State Center

Marjorie Maxine Darrow, 96, of State Center, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at State Center Specialty Care in State Center, Iowa.

A gathering for Marge will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home- West Marshall Chapel. There will be a small private burial to follow. A Celebration of Life for Marge will be held at a later date in the spring. Marjorie Leeper was born on December 17, 1926 in Mount Etna, Iowa. She was the daughter to Lloyd and Alice (Fitzpatrick) Leeper. Marge was united in marriage to Donald Darrow in Atlantic. Marge previously had worked for nursing homes in the area, sold toys for Playhouse and worked at Bourne’s electronics in Ames. Her most important and loving job was raising nine children. Marge liked to garden, listen to music, read, puzzles and was a “mom” to everyone she met.

Marjorie is survived by her children: Dixie Law of Ogden, Penny (Bill Mann) Krause of Altoona, Crystal Clifton of State Center, Danny (Cyndy) Darrow of Melbourne and Howard (Mae) Darrow of State Center. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband: Donald; parents: Lloyd and Alice and children: Michael Darrow, Calvin Darrow, Jeannie Fields and Dawn Ellen Darrow.
