Donna was born April 6, 1942 to Earl Mast and Susie Stevens. She graduated from BCL High School. After graduating, she was united in marriage to Maynard Doty Jr. and was blessed with two children: Danny and Cindy.

During her early years, Donna waited tables in Grundy County and worked for a short while at Grundy County Courthouse. After divorcing, Donna moved away from Iowa for a while, returning in 1978. She worked for Kiowa for several years and cleaned houses. In 1992 she worked at the Iowa Veterans Home in dietary until retiring in 2010.

From around 1991 to 1996 Donna enjoyed learning how to line dance with her daughter and son-in-law, where she then became a member of the Country Stompers dance group. They traveled around Iowa line dancing for benefits and small town gatherings – and she loved every minute of it.

After retirement, Donna moved to Mesa, Arizona to be close to her brother Steve and his wife Pat. Donna spent the next ten years where she had the time of her life in Arizona. She loved meeting new friends and always going and enjoying everything she did and truly enjoying life to the fullest.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Cindy (Ken) Smoldt and Danny Doty, both of State Center; grandchildren: Danny Doty Jr., Josh (Kiley) Smoldt, Sarah Doty (Barry), Lisa Doty, Colton Smoldt and Jennifer Doty; four great-grandchildren: Haven Smoldt, Jordan Ortiz, Kinzley Smoldt and Asher Smoldt; her siblings: Steve (Pat) Mast, Joyce Lindquist, Carol Castle, Eugene Mast and Nancy (Monte) Akers and several nieces and nephews.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Susie; granddaughter, Allison Gruver; siblings: Bruce Mast and Sandy Nelson and fur baby Abby Sue.
