James “Jim” Allen, 85, Marshalltown

James “Jim” Allen, 85, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Glenwood Place in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. Jim was born on June 11, 1938, to Norman and Mary (Andersen) Allen in rural Lorimor, IA. He was one of seven children. Jim grew up along with his siblings on the family farm. He attended Melbourne High School, graduating in 1956. Following high school, he went to Marshalltown Community College and then on to Simpson College where he graduated. After college Jim began to work for Fisher Controls. He began in Marshalltown and eventually moved to Texas where he continued to work for Fisher Controls. Jim loved his country and served in the Army. Jim met Carolyn Martin and they had three children, Mike, Scott and Rene who they lost during childbirth. Jim later remarried Mary (Landt) Allen and spent the rest of his life with her. In his later years he spent time working for Western Manufacturing, where he retired from. Jim was an avid hunter and sportsman and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his wife Mary, two sons; Mike (Rebecca) Allen, Scott (Julie) Allen, three grandchildren; Mercedes Allen, Selena Allen, John Allen, and one sibling; Lillian Hineman. He was preceded in death by his daughter Rene, and siblings, Ernie, Leona, Mildred, Mary and Elmer.
