Nyle Richard Hartwig, 89, State Center

Nyle Richard Hartwig, 89, of State Center, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.

Funeral services for Nyle will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in State Center. Visitation will be held on Thursday September 7, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa River Hospice Home, St. John Lutheran Church or to the Orphan Grain Train. Nyle Hartwig was born on August 31, 1928 north of Colo at his home to Orville (O.G.) and Mayme Bader Hartwig. He attended country school then graduated from Colo High School in 1946. After high school, Nyle attended Iowa State College in Pre Veterinary. On June 25, 1950, Nyle was united in marriage to Joann Becvar at St. John Lutheran Church. Nyle was a lifelong farmer as well as worked for Spread-All Manufacturing making farm equipment. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and most importantly was a wonderful Christian, husband, father and grandfather.

Nyle is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joann. Children: Richard (Gretchen) Hartwig of Colo, Russell (Jane) Hartwig of Davenport, Ruth Ann (Mike) Bartine of State Center and Ronna (Arden) Greiner of Colo. Grandchildren: Kerry (Brandi) Hartwig, Kelly (Daniel) Lindemeier, Allen Hartwig, Amy (Darren) Hess, J.D. Jones, Grant Jones, Sam Hartwig, Jeff (Sara) Bartine, Eric (Sarah) Bartine, David Greiner and Kristine Greiner as well as fourteen great grandchildren and other family and friends.

Nyle is preceded in death by his son Ray Hartwig, parents Orville and Mayme, grandchildren Matthew Hartwig and Michael Greiner as well as his sister Marjorie Henze.
