Jean M. Fields, 63, of Gladbrook, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital in Waterloo.
Services for Jean will take place on Monday, January 31 at 12:00 P.M. at Green Mountain United Church of Christ with Reverend Kim Wilson officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Green Mountain Cemetery. Friends and family are also invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, January 30 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Born Jean Marie Darrow on April 11, 1958 in Mason City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Donald and Marjorie (Leeper) Darrow. She grew up in Marshall County and lived for many years in State Center before moving to Zearing, where she graduated high school in 1976. After starting a family, Jean went to Marshalltown Community College and achieved her degree as a Registered Nurse. Compassionate and caring, Jean spent many years working in hospice care, which she truly cherished. She was united in marriage on December 19, 2014 to Garry Fields in Akron, Ohio. Jean’s two greatest loves were her family and singing for others and her favorite activity was singing at karaoke night.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband, Garry; her four children: Jennifer Aiken, Jake Drummer, Brandon Mabe and Mariah Mabe; two step-children: Lora Ellingson and Jason Fields; grandchildren: Derek, Lilly, Taylor and Alayna; great-granddaughter, Lillith; her mother, Majorie Darrow; siblings: Penny Krause, Crystal Clifton, Dixie Law, Howard Darrow and Dan Darrow and several nieces and nephews.
In eternal life she is reunited with her father, Donald and her siblings: Mike Darrow, Calvin Darrow and Dawn Ellen Darrow.
