Marie Goodwin, 92, State Center
Marie Goodwin, 92, of State Center, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family and under the care of the Iowa River Hospice Home.
In light of the state wide mandate from the Governor concerning COVID-19 that was given on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 stating that no public gatherings over 10 people should take place, private graveside services for Marie will be held. Eunice Marie Hight was born on August 25, 1927 in Dawson, Iowa to Leo and Eunice Mozeney Hight. Marie graduated from high school in Jamaica, Iowa in 1944 then attended Iowa State University. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Goodwin on March 17, 1950 in Vermillion, South Dakota. Marie had worked at Donnelley Marketing in Nevada in the payroll department before her retirement. She was a member of the State Center First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed singing, sewing/needlework, doing puzzle books but most importantly, Marie loved her family dearly. Marie’s family would also like to send a heartfelt “thank you” to the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown for the wonderful and loving care that they provided for her!
Marie is survived by her children: David (Nancy) Goodwin of Texas City, Texas, Dennis (Kathy) Goodwin of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, DeAnn (Scott) Meyer of Ames, Douglas Goodwin of State Center, Scott (Donna) Goodwin of Marshalltown, Randy (Brenda) Goodwin of State Center and Timothy Goodwin of State Center. Marie is also survived by multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; parents, Leo and Eunice and siblings, Winifred Hellman, Opal Halsey and Leon Hight.
