Wright, Ethel 97
Ethel Marie (Sievert) Wright was born on June 24, 1919 in Alden, Iowa, the youngest of four children born to Theodore and Minnie (Hoelscher) Sievert.
Ethel was united in marriage to Jesse H. Wright on February 14, 1940 in Hubbard, Iowa. Ethel and Jesse were lifelong farmers and farmed in New Providence, Steamboat Rock and Rhodes, Iowa. The couple resided at their farm near Rhodes, Iowa for over 50 years. In 1997 the Wright family farm was sold to the Harvestor Golf Course and Ethel and Jesse moved to Collins, Iowa. The couple resided in Collins, Iowa until Jesse’s passing in December 2002. In 2004 Ethel moved to Urbandale, Iowa to be near her daughter Donna.
While helping Jesse maintain the farm, Ethel attended DMACC and successfully obtained her GED. Ethel had a strong passion for helping others, which led her to obtain her C.N.A. in 1975. After getting her C.N.A., Ethel worked for the Marshalltown Hospital from 1975 to 1991. Ethel had various interests and successfully earned her insurance license for AFLAC. She enjoyed meeting new people and assisting them with their claims for several years until 1999. In addition to being a successful career women, Ethel was a talented seamstress and memorable cook. Her jams, jellies and candies were well known in the community.
Ethel passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 8:55 PM at the Urbandale Health Care Center. She had recently celebrated her 97th birthday.
Those thankful for having shared her life include her three children, Donna Wright of Urbandale, Iowa, Gary “Buzz” Wright of Albia, Iowa and Dennis Wright of Grinnell, Iowa; four granddaughters Jodie Sprague, Mitzi Fleming, Cindy Ward and Heather Love; one grandson Andrew Wright; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; as well as many other relatives and friends
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters Pearl Nassen and Myrtle Lepper and one brother Bill Sievert.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 26th from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with services following at 11:00 a.m. at the Boeke Funeral Home at 501 E Maple Street in Hubbard, Iowa.
